STATE LUNCHEON TENDERED [vic.; press ASSOCIATION.| AUCKLAND. January 20. A Stale luncheon was tendered al the Grand Hotel, to-day. to Mr. Bruce (Australian High Commissioner in London I. Mr. Hepburn (Provincial Premier of Ontario). Mr. Campbell (Minister of Public Work's of Ontario I, and Me. Walters ( Deputy-Treas-urer of Ontario), who arrived by Hie Mariposa, on their way to Australia. Mr. Eraser represented the Government. meeting the statesmen and acting as host at the luncheon.

Mr. Bruce is returning, after an absence, of four and a-half years. Io renew contact with the Federal Government. He will return to London, to resume work as High Commissioner. He is accompanied by his wifi', and his private secretary. The Canadian party intends examining social legislation in Australia, particularly the operations of the Commonwealth Bank. On their return, a month hence, they will spend another day in Auckland, meeting representatives of the Government.
