I — . MONTHLY MEETING. (<>Hh <>U-IV CORRKSPONDENT. | HOKITIKA, December 14. i The Westland Hospital Board’ met yesterday. Present: Messrs H. T. Parry (chairman), E. AV. Heenan, G. H. Chapman, A. Dale, G. Heinz, W. Jamieson, J. A. Murdoch, A. R. Elcock, J. Fox, T. W. Duff. i Mr Parry resigned his position as chairman qwing to leaving Hokitika, also his seat on the Board. Members ; expressed regret. | It was decided to hold the next ! meting on January 17, 1939. I It was resolved that no charge be made against the Nelson Hospital ; Board for the services of the nurses I who went to assist after the recent fire, n ' . The ambulance will not be avail- ! able for the carnival procession on New Year’s Eve, as members considered it should be available for emergency. The Hotel Restaurants Trade Employees’ Union wrote enquiring whether this Board is prepared to come under the agreement existing between the union and the Hospital Boards’ Association.—Deferred to next meeting. The Nurses and Midwives’ Registration Board wrote conveying congratulations on the excellent manner in which the Hokitika Hospital is functioning as a training school for pupil nurses. —Received with appreciation. Miss J. Keller applied for annual leave.—Granted. The Matron’s report for the month ended November 30 stated: The highest nujnber of occupied beds for the month was 68, the lowest 53, the average for the month 63. Number of operations 29, number of X-rays 37, screenings 3, electrical treatment 136. Sister Langley resigned on November 30. Fortunately the measles epidemic! has somewhat abated, though we have I still an odd case among the staff, i Sister Alexander off duty 16/11/38 —■ 23/11/38. Nurse Minehan off duty 7/11/38 —19/11/38. Nurse Berry off duty 13/11/38; still off. Nurse Kelliner, Sister Langley, and Nurse Fowler are on holiday. Sister Johnson, Nurse Clausen and Nurse Wallace were loaned to the Nelson Hospital from 4/11/38 to 25/11/38. Domestic 1 staff: Miss M. Knapp off duty 8/11/38 | —l5/11/38 included. Miss M. Moriarty j (laundress) from 22/11/38. Miss M. | Martin (assisting laundress) from,! 22/11/38. Miss Rose Hunter resigned 30/11/38. Miss Vera Smith off duty '29/11/38; still off. • The financial statement showed rei ceipt.s £ll4B/7/10, expenditure £lBBl I 5/11. Accounts amounting to £2152 ' 6/10 were passed for payment.
