Sept. 7, 1 p.m.). ft LONDON, September 6. ,1 The “Telegraph’s” Barcelona correspondent says that fighting is intensifying on the Ebro front, as the g rebels hurl against the Loyalist position 150,000 troops, which are report- .j ed to include eight Italian Divisions, many of whose men recently arrived from Italy. The rebels are supposed to have '• suffered 25.000 casualties on the Ebro front, in the course of five weeks’ futile efforts to break through, and g 20,000 casualties on the Valencia front, since July. Their efforts are only now partially succeeding, because they are supported by quantities of German artillery.
BRITISH SHIP BOMBED. (Recd. September 7, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, September 6. The British ship Marvia was bombwhile unloading at Alicante, and set on fire. An Arab sailor was killed. NON-INTERVENTION RUGBY, September 5. The Earl of Plymouth (chairman of the Non-Intervention Committee) will return to London to-morrow. It is likely that he will have discussions with the leading members of the chairman’s sub-committee to ascertain the views of their governments on the suggestion that the secretary should visit the two sides in Spain to explain in full the British plan for the withdrawal of volunteers.
SEIZURE OF STANCROFT . (Rec. Sept. 7, Noon) GIBRALTAR, Sept. 6. Acting-Chief Justice Craithie upheld the Crown’s appeal against the Stancroft verdict, and granted leave toappeal to the Privy Council. Mr. N. Pritt K.C., was censured for contempt of Court, for not rising as the Judge left the Bench. \
