FRUIT EXPORT BOARD
GROWERS’ REPRESENTATIVES [PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, September 5. The election of growers’ representatives for *the three provincial districts on the New Zealand Fruit Export Control Board, which took place today, resulted in the return of Mr. A. B. Congdon for Auckland-Taranaki (the sitting member, Mr. Firth, being defeated), Mr. H. E. Stephens (sitting member) for Nelson-Marlborough, and Mr. F. G. Duncan for Otago-Can-terbury was formerly associated with Nelson anfl Marlborough; but Otago has now entered into the fruit export control organisation for the first time, and the two southern provincial districts are combined for representation of their growers on the Board. Their newly-elected member holds office for a year; but after the next election whoever is returned will hold office for three years, as is the case with other elected members. The results of to-day’s poll were: Auckland-Taranaki provincial districts: A. B. Congdon 43 votes, Frank Firth 39. Nelson-Marlborough provincial districts: H. E. Stephens 132 votes, A. Brown 118.
Otago-Canterbury provincial districts: F. G. Duncan 49 votes, W. G. Mottram 16, E. A. Stead 14.
