The funeral of the late Frederick Wesley, of Stillwater, took place this morning, at the Karoro Cemetery. The service at the graveside was conducted by Archdeacon J. A. Jermyn.

Passengers by Cook Strait Airways West Coast service to-day were: Nelson to Greymouth: Aliss J. Spiers; - Greymouth to Wellington: Mr. W. Scarborough.

The fundral of the late Mrs. Sarah Gillin took place this morning, at the Karoro Cemetery. Requiem Mass was celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church by Very Rev. Father J. Long, who also read the service at the graveside, assisted by Rev. Fathers Holohan and Egan.

The funeral of the late Mrs Mary Glynn, of Runanga, took place this afternoon, at the Karoro Cemetery. Requiem Alass was celebrated at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Runanga, this morning, by Rev. Father Holohan, who also conducted the service at the graveside. , .

The death occurred yesterday at the Waikato Hospital, of. Leo O’Dea, son of Mr. and Mrs . S. O’Dea, of Greymouth. Deceased suffered an injury at football six weeks ago, and three weeks ago he entered hospital for treatment. Airs. O'Dea is at present in Hamilton. Air. Q’Dea, who is Inspector of Permanent Ways at Greymeuth, and Miss O’Dea left to-dav. for Hamilton.

Aliss Pearl Dowell, whose marriage to Mr. R. R. King will take place at Greymouth on September 17, was entertained at a gift evening by the staff of the Albion Hotel at Herb Moore’s, on Saturday. Williams’ orchestra supplied the music for the dancing, and Air. D. Macßeath was M.C. Supper was served at the Albion Hotel. Miss R. O’Donnell, on behalf of the staff, presented Aliss Dowell with a crystal table lamp.

The death has occurred of Mr. Thomas Usher, formerly well-known in business circles. He had been living in retirement at Nelson for many years. He came, to New Zealand with his parents in 1859. He was one of the prime, movers in re-establishing the first Monday in August holiday, which in New Zealand, Nelson alone enjoys. He leaves a widow and three sons, Doctor Victor Usher (Auckland), Doctor Noel and Randall Usher (Wellington). —Press Assn.

The death occurred at Greymouth, last evening, of Mrs. Olive Saunders, wife of Mr. W. B. Saunders, of Dobson. A native of Milton, Otago, aged \ 39 years, deceased came to Greymouth with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Duncan McGregor, Marsden Road, as a child. Prior to her marriage, she was employed by Ashby Bergh and Co. and before that, by Waltei’ Scott and Co. She had been ill for the past week. She leaves her husband and two young children, and her parents. The interment, which w’ill be private, will take place to-morrow’.

The death occurred in Johannesburg, last month, of Mr. Mortimer C. Blackett, 1 a South African journalist, who toured New Zealand with the Springboks of 1921, as representative of the Johannesburg “Star” and the Associated Newspapers. Born in Tasmania in ISSI, Blackett was subsequently in New Zealand, but at the age of 20, left Christchurch with the New Zealand contingent for the South African War, and remained there after hostilities closed. When the Great War broke out, he served as a Lieutenant in the Natal Light Horse in South-west Africa, and tvas wounded at Gibeon. He then went to England, and there joined the Australian Forces, in which be served as Captain on the headquarters staff of General Monash and -was awarded the 0.8. E. He had visited Australia in 1911 as Reuter representative with the South African cricket team, it is believed that he has nieces’ in New Zealand —Press Assn.
