CANADA’S IDEALS
INFLUENCED BY U.S.A.
IRY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.]
(Recd. August 9, 8 a.m.). SYDNEY, August 8. Addressing the Constitutional Association. Professor Alexander Brady, Professor of Political Science. Toronto University, said that while culturally and economically Australia’s contacts were singularly those of the Mother State, Canada’s position was different. Canada shared North America, with a great dynamic State—another English-speaking community, whose life ran in distinct channels, — and which must of necessity influence Canadian life. Canadians liked to think they had certain qualities lacking in the United States, but subconsciously the United States’ influence in Canadian institutions was increasing. Professor Brady added his own view was that in any major European crisis likely to affect the integrity of the Empire, Canada would ultimately throw her weight into the scale with the other Dominions.
