SUCCESSFUL MEETING Favoured with fine weather and an excellent attendance, the newlyformed Blackball Sportls Club’s first meeting, on the Blackball Domain, on Saturday afternoon-, wa® successful. Interest, centred in the cycle race which started from Greymouth. J. Archer narrowly defeated R. Mclntyre, with Furness close up, third. Archer also won the gold medal presented for the fastest time, his time being 53mins 22secs. The chopping events filled well. T. Pretty further enhanced his splendid record- for the season' by dead-heating - with J. Mason in the big chop. W. Maloney chopped well in the first heat, finishing fully 10 seconds before the other placed men, bur had a tough block in the final.' G. P. Kennedy, a consistent runner this season, succeeded in annexing both the 100yds and 120yds foot races. The programme was run well up to time, reflecting credit on the officials' in charge.
