WOMAN FATALLY BURNT

LONELY HOUSE ON FIRE [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] i | AUCKLAND, May 2. j When the police searched the remains of a six-roomed house at Karaka, thirty miles south of Auckland, last night, they found the charred body of a middle aged woman. Detectives are now on the scene investigating the circumstances, which may possibly be associated with the case, in which an elderly woman was assaulted in her home a week ago. The house burnt last night was owned and occupied by a spinster, Isabelle Josephine Bryant, G 5, who lived alone 'in a lonely part of the district. The lire was observed by neighbours about six o’clock. They; looked through a bedroom window, but there was no sign of Miss Bryant. All ' the windows and doors were apparently closed, and locked. As no water was available, the fire had to take its course. Later the body was found. It is believed to be. that of Miss Bryant, but is not yet definitely identified.
