WEDDINGS

I WOOD—COUMBE. The wedding took place 1 at St. Patrick’s Church, Greymouth, on Saturday, of Thomas Anthony, younger son of Mr and the late Mrs J. Wood, of Cobden, formerly of Durham. England, and Mary Edna, only daughter of Mrs and the late. Mr . T. Coumbe, of Greymouth. Nupial Mass was celebrated* by Rev. 'Father ,T. .Holohan, who also performed’ the ceremony. Miss M. McSherry was at the organ, and during the Mass, solos were given by Mrs W. B. Connor and Mr T. GHatch.

The bride, who entered the church through a guard of honour formed by the Children of Mary, was escorted by her cousin, Mr Michael Brown. She was attired in a frock of white satin, slim fitting to theHtnees, where- it billowed out to form a long train. The bodice was softly shirred and caught on either side of the heart-shaped neck-line with sprays of orange blossom. Her long embroidered tulle veil, the gift of Miss M. King, fell from a halo io form a second train. She carried a sheaf of white chrysanthemums.

She was attended by two bridesmaids. Miss Molly Brown, her cousin, and Miss Winifred Wood, sister of the bridegroom. Their frocks of pink and blue Hungarian cloque respectively were cut on long slim fitting lines, buttoned from neck to waist and finished with Peter Pan collars. They each wore shoulder veils 10 tone with their frocks, and each carried a sheaf rf pink- chrysanthemums. The flower girl. Joan McGrath, was daintily frocked in a long Victorian gown of lemon cloque. She wore a petalled halo of lemon organdie, finished with satin streamers.,and also carried a pink posy.

Mi- A. Allen was best man. and Mr E. Martin groomsman. Mr J. Wood, brother of the bridegroom, was usher. The reception was held at Herb. Moore’s, where Ihe guests were received |,y Mrs Coumbe, mother of the bride, and Miss Marie Wood, sister of Iho bridegroom. Mrs Coumbe wore a frock of figured marocain. and a black tailored coat with a- shoulder spray of pink chrysanthemums; while Miss Wood- idiose a patterned frock of brown crepe-de-cliine. with an ermin-et-te> coat and hat. to tone. She also wore- a shoulder spray of autumntinted flowers.

The bride and bridegroom left by rail-car for Christchurch, Ihe bride travelling in a. suit of navy serge with navy coat and accessories to tone.

OAKLEY—POLLOCK

The- wedding was solemnised at St. Patrick’s Church. Greymoulh, on Saturday. of Mary .Josephine, elder daughter of the late Mr Fl. Pollock, and Airs Pollock. Thompson Street, Greymouth, and James, only son of Air and Airs F. .1. Oakley, of RunangaNuptial Mass was celebrated by Rev. Father Kelly, who also performed the ceremony. Air T. Crankshaw presided at the organ, and during the Mass solos were sung by Air J. Duffy. A guard of honour was formed on the steps of the church by the Children of Mary. The bride, who was escorted by her Liotlier, Mr I'atrick Pollock, wore a frock of white embossed satin. Empire style. The bodice was made with a high neck, and was buttoned from neck 10 waistline with liny satin buttons. The sleeves were pleated at the shoulders, slim-fitting at. .the elbows, and’.shaped to points over the hands. Tito skirl, fell in graceful folds and was finished with a lie sash. Her long sill: embroidered tulle veil was held in place with a coronei of pleated tulle and orange blossom, and she carrier a sheaf of white 1 hrysanthcninms, white carnations and maiden-hair fern.

Tim In id? was :iI tended by her cousin, Aiiss Alary Rc-edy. of Westport, (cliic-ij. and Miss Nell Grogan, of Greymoulh, who wore frocks of Alargaret Rose pink embossed Hungarian cloque, made in Elizabethan style, the neck falling into folds and finished with a. diamante brooch. They wore spotted net caps with halos of pink and silver leaves, silver shoes, and carried shower bouquets of pink cactus dahlias, chrysanthemums, carnations and maiden-hair fern. A nephew of the bridegroom, Alaster Robert Hamldy, was page boy, and on leaving the church the bride was presented with a. silver horse-shoe by Master James I-lambly, also a nephew. Mr RE. Kennedy, of Runanga, was best man. and Air R. G. Pollock, brother of the bride, was groomsman. The reception was held at Harker’s Tea Rooms, where the bride’s mother received the guests wearing a mulberry woven suit with accessories to tone. She was assisted by .the bridegroom’s mother, wl?o wore a rust suit with brown assessories. Mr and Mrs J. Oakley left by the rail-car for Christchurch and Wellington, the bride travelling in a bottle-green flared suit, trimmed with black broad-tail, and black accessories to tone.

VVILSON—M ’M ENA MIN. The marriage of Lola Mary, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. 11. McMenamin, Christchurch, to Donald Jamieson, third son of Mr. and Mrs G. T. Wilson. Greymouth, was celebrated on Saturday morning al the Catholic Cathedral. Barbadoes Street, by the Rev. Father G. O’Meeghan. The. bride wore a smart steel blue suit showing a darker blue stripe, a blouse of shell pink ripple georgette finished with tine pleating at. the neckline, and a grey toque. She pinned a spray of pink carnations and begonias on her silver fox fur. Mr. McMenamin escorted his daughter. Miss Ngaire McMenamin-. who attended her sister as bridesmaid, wore a. saxe blue tunic frock trimmed with checked buttons and matching sash. Her navy blue velour hat had an upturned brim, and she carried a bouquet of bright pink roses and carnations. Mr. George Wilson was best man. Alter the ceremony the guests, were entertained "at a reception held in Benin’s grey room. ' I LAMBERT—BEST. The wedding was celebrated at Holy Trinity Church, Greymouth, on Saturday evening, of Noia Thornton, only daughter of Mrs Thornton-Best, Kongahu, and .the late Mr R. ThorntonBest, Masterton, and David John Lambert, son of Mr and Mrs Lambert, Stockton. Archdeacon J. A. Jermyn performed the ceremony. Misses Patricia and Josephine Millar, cousins of the bride, attended as maids, Mr W. Payne was best man,

and Mr G. Lambert, groomsman. The reception wtis held al Harker’s. BYRNE—BRADLEY The marriage took place at the Presbyterian Church. Ikamatua, on Saturday, of Ruth Mavis, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Bradley, Hukarerc. to Joseph, youngest, son ot Mrs. S. and the late Mr. John Byrne, Mawheraiti. The Rev. Mr. Seaton and Rev. James Rati ray officiated. Mr. J. R. Jones was organist. The bride who was escorted by her father, wore a frock of ivory silk lace over ripple satin. Her full length veil was hold ui place with a coronet of orange, blossom and she carried a sheaf oi cream and pink dahlias and chrysanthemums. The bridesmaids wore Misses Irene. Alice and June Bradley, sisters of the bride. Their frocks were of pale green with rucked fronts and puffed sleeves. Their head dress was a coronet of green and yellow flowers with silver leaves, and they carried 1 sheafs of bronze and pink chrysanthe-' mums and fern. The bridegroom was attended by his nephew, Mr. J. Somerville, and Mr. P. Longman was groomsman. The guests were received at the Ikamatua Public Hall by the parents of the bride and the mother of the bridegroom. The bride’s mother wore a blue floral ensemble with hat to tone.

Mr. and Mrs. Byrne left by the railcar for Christchurch, the bride travelling in navy blue costume, with hat and accessories to match.
