PARISHIONERS’ MEETING. The annual meeting of parishioners J of Holy Trinity Church was held in the schoolroom last evening,. Archdeacon Jermyn presided' over a good gathering, fully representative of all parochial organisations. Greetings were received from the Rt. Rev. W. J. Hilliard, at present in Sydney, and a welcome was accorded to Mr J-. N. Stephenson, Diocesan treasurer of the Nelson Diocese. The annual statement of receipts and expenditure was presented by Mr H. Herring. Ordinary offertories amounted to £491, special efforts returned' £4lB, receipts for missionary work £418; for New Church Fund £200; receipts from various sources (including a legacy of £2O from the late Mrs Lightfoot) £5O; total £1246. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £49 on the year’s working. The New Church Building Fund (held in trust by the Diocesan Trust Board) stood as follows: —Trust Account, £1,120; Furnishing Account, £ 180; section on Griffen’s Hill, £70(1; property in Tainui Street, £1,250; total, £3,250Mr J. N. Stephenson congratulated the parish on its annual statement, and referred to Mr H. Herring as the most efficient parish treasurer in the Diocese. The Vicar presented a lengthy report on the wanking of tib* parish. He expressed his appreciation of the valuable help given by Mr E. A. Butterfielu timing the Vicar's absence at the Edinburgh Conference last year. The splendid effort ot the ladies’ committee last September was particularly gratifying. Detailed reports were received from the Choir (Mr G. S. Pratt). Sunday Schools (Mrs AV. H. Spender). Ladies’ Guild (per Mr I. Leach), Missionary Guild (per Mr John Parfitt). Girls’ Club (Mrs R Richardson). Sanctuary Guild (Miss Pratt). Under the leadership of Mr A. Hopkinson, with Miss V. Millar at the organ, the Choir had maintained a high standard. throngh,out the year; there was marked progress in the Junior Choir. The work of the Choir was made difficult by the fact that the organ was in the last stages of usefulness, and caused a good deal of anxiety. The Blaketown Sunday School reported that, encouraged by growing attendance, plans had been drawn for a. schoolroom to be erected' on a section near the Blaketown Hall. The building fund was growing steadily, and when a further £lOO was collected, the building would be started. A proposal,, sponsored by the Mothers’ Union, to acquire a new property and erect a schoolroom at Karoro was held over until the negotiations for the sale of the present property were completed. .

BOROUGH OPTION SURRENDERED Mr A. M. Jamieson stated that the Borough Council had not. renewed their option over the Guinness Street property, and that proposals for a private sale were being considered'. Meantime, the parish was fortunate in obtaining the temporary use of the United Pavilion on Sunday mornings. It was agreed to convene a special meeting of parishioners at a later date. The election of officers: resulted: — Vicar’s Warden, Mr 1. Leach; People’s Warden, Mr H. Herring; Vestry: Messrs W. J. Cogswell, A. Franklyn, A. E. I-lignett, A. M. Jamieson, C. Neville, G. F. Page. W. E. Bring (Minute Secretary). R. AV. Sansom. AV. H. Spender. Auditor: Mr T. Eldon Coates. During the meeting the Diocesan Treasurer explained the methods of investing Trust funds and. detailed the working of the Sustentation Fund and lhe Home Mission Fund for the' extension of the Church’s wor.k in the country districts. Azotes of thanks were accorded to the Choir, Sunday School Teachers, Ladies’ Guild and Helpers, the leader of the Girls’ Club, the Missionary Guild and Sanctuary Guild; to the ’trustees of the Blaketown Hall and United Pavilion for the use of their buildings; to Mr AV. Baird for his repair work on the organ. A letter of I hanks for his services and of good wishes for his future work at. Cheviot was sent to the Rev. W. A. Beaumon t. In reply to a resolution of thanks to Archdeacon Jermyn and Mrs Jermyn and appreciation of their services, the vicar thanked the parishioners, for their many kindnesses and' especially for the recent renovations: at the vicarage, including the installation of electric light. The progress l of the parish was steady and solid and gave great promise for the future.
