VALEDICTORY

REV. W. A- AND MRS BEAUMONT. Al the close of last Sunday’s service at St. John's Church, Ru Ru. the 'church committee and congregation met to farewell Rev W. A. and Mrs Beaumont, who leave shortly lor Cheviot. Mr Percy Feary. secretary of the Building Committee, presented the departing Vicar with a wallet of notes •as a token of thanks, and esteem from the church folk of the Lake Brunner District, and expressted regret at the departure of one who had always worked with a will for the parishioners of the new' church. About 120 people gathered in the Druids' Hall, Blackball, also to farewell Mr and Mrs Beaumont. After supper was served. Mr Arnold Knowles congratulated the guests on their pi emotion, am] expressed' regret, on behalf of Blackball residents, at their departure. Mr George Pattison, representing the Moonlight Church congregation, also expressed good wishes, and handed to Mr Beaumont a wallet of notes. Messrs Lloyd Elsmore (on .behalf of the younger members of the church), Percy James (Presbyterian Church), and a representative of the Blackball Branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association also spoke, paying tributes to his worl< and extending best wishes for Hie future. The presentation was made by the Chairman, Mr Knowles, who asl-gd .Mr Beaumont to accept from the church congregation a smoker’s outlit, and handed to Mrs Beaumont aleather handbag, also two fountainliens and a, box of handkerchiefs for ■the children, and also presented Mrs Beaumont with a wool travelling rug.

Occasion was also taken to welcome Mr K. Bundell.
