On the motion of Mr Contessa, a vote of thanks was passed to Mr L. Carruthers, for effecting repair work at the bandroom.

Mr J. Williams paid a tribute to the services rendered by Mr Garth' for many years, and regretted that. Mr Garth was not in the best, of health. He had “stuck to liis guns’’ very well indeed as treasurer, which was one of the hardest jobs- in the Band, and had done yeoman work. The tribute was endorsed by the President and Mr Ellery. It was decided' that the President and Secretary should, after the municipal elections, interview the Mayor and Borough Engineer, 'with a, view to having necessary renovations carried out at the bandroom. Mr Ellery moved' that, in future, all funds raised by the Social Committee be placed in a. separate account, for social purposes, which would obviate the necessity for taking money from the general fund. A separate balance-sheet, could be submitted annually by the Social. Committee. He said that it would’ be better than the present, system. The resolution was seconded’ by Mr Phibbs, and carried.

Speaking as conductor, Mr Kerr said that he would 1 like to get a little more support from some members of the Band, particularly the Greymouth beys, who were lacking, in punctuality at practices. He knew something about the psychology of West Coasters, and. had let them “get away !with” things which would not be allowed in other towns, but he appealed to them to give him a helping hand and to turn up on time for practices. The Band had softie wonderfully good members, and he 'wished others to follow their example. The Band had a fine, team of players at present,* but there eould be more punctuality. He appealed' for co-operation during the coming year.
