PRESIDENT’S ANNUAL REPORT. Mr J. R. Robertson (president) has prepared the following report for sunmission to the annual meeting of the Greymouth Municipal Band, to be held this' evening;— In presenting to you our annual balance-sheet for the year ended March 31, 19v>8, it is l very satisfactory to report the year’si operations, both financially and instrumentally. The balance-sheet discloses- a credit balance of £132/11/4, an increase of £26/10/7, while the assets stand at £ll2l/8/4, with liabilities nil. During the year our conductor. Mr Kerr, was unfortunate in meeting with a serious accident, which incapacitated him for some six months. We ’are glad to say that he is now back to his former health and' is once more conducting with his usual efficiency. Thanks are due to Mr R. Jackson for having conducted the Band during Mr Kerr’s absence. The Junior Band, under the conductorship .of Mr Henderson, is progressing very satisfactorily, and already several juniors who have shown ability, have been drafted to tho higher grade. Playing in public has been rather curtailed, ami in this connection 1 am going to advocate more public, performances. Our thanks are due to our Treasurer, Mr W. Garth, and also to our Librarian, Mr Cornell, for the work they have both done in keeping equipment and music in the best of order. We desire also to th-nk all those artists who have assisted l us in our concerts during the year, and to the 250 honorary members for their support, to the Ladies’ Committee for their able assistance at the various, social functions throughout the. season, and also to the Press for the courtesy they have always shown, us, we express our best thanks. In concluding, 1 desire to thank your committee for their assistance in all matters' concerning the Band, the harmonious way in which meetings have been conducted, and the keen interest each member has displayed.
