LONDON, April 27. - According to the Burgos correspondent of “The Times” a communique reveals that as a result of / a surprise offensive on the Teruel front nearly 300 square miles- of mountain territory have been occupied. A single shot'rang' out : a.t 8 a.m. on Saturday, a signal for hundreds of guns to enter action. Eighty aeroplanes cooperated. The Republicans’ lines crumpled along a wide front. FRANCO’S CHANGED OBJECTIVE. (Reed. AprfT‘2B, 11.30 a-m, LONDON, April 27. The “Telegraph’s” Barcelona correspondent says,:— The rebel offensive against Teruel is due to Franco’s realisation .that the attempt to conquer Catalonia has failed, necessitating the prolongation of the warfare. He has therefore abandoned Barcelona as the objective, and is concentrating a drive on Valencia, via Castello de Lapana. LOYALIST SUCCESSES. (Recd. April 28, noon.) LONDON, April 27. The “Telegraph’s” Barcelona correspondent says: Rebel machine-gunners, withholding fire till the last moment, scattered a Loyalist cavalry attack be" tween Teruel and Morelia. The Spanish Press Agency announces from Barcelona that Loyalist divisions not only stemmed the rebel 'offensive, but took the initiative in the Erbo-Segre-Pyrenee’s sectors, inflicting heavy losses on the Italians, when the latter attempted a counter-attack. Moreover the Loyalist front remains intact between Teruel and Montalban, while the loss of Aliaga is denied. The Barcelona correspondent of the “Telegraph” corroborates that the Loyalists are withstanding the rebels on the Levante front. BRITONS EVACUATED. BARCELONA, April 27. The cruiser London evacuated 30 Britons. ' /' ITALIAN DENIAL. (Recd. April. 28, 11.30 a.m.) ROME, April 27. Dr. Gayda denies'that Italy has sent a man, cannon or machine-gun to Spain for months.
