The police attempted to remove (be ’flag, but were surrounded by a violent > crowd, which they tried t o disperse jby a baton charge. fThe Mysore Government has issued ,a statement, that the police were forced to fire ih self-defence. No members of Congress were shot, only villagers. Eye-witnesses declare that no time was given to disperse.
