BRUNNER NOTES
[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] The’ Brunner Women’s Institute held the monthly meeting in Wallsend. Mrs. Pender, vice-president, presided in the absence of the president, Mrs. Porteous. The programme for the year was arranged. It was also agreed to have a bring and buy stall at the next meeting. Motto for the evening was “Errors like straws upon the surface flow; he who would search for pearls must dive below.” Roll call was, “My Pet Aversion.” A demonstration on a rug’ from old felt hats was given by Mrs. J. Todd and was much appreciated. The competition for the best plate off scones was won by Mrs. Todd. Competition for the best laundered table napkin was won by Miss A. Smeaton. The hostesses for the evening were the new Committee. Mrs. H. Roberts, Dobson, returned on Tuesday evening, after spending a holiday visit with her mother, Mrs. Stratford, Palmerston North. Mr. L. Golding, who has been on a brief visit to Mr. and Mrs. R. Boustridge, Dobson, left on his return to Hector to-day.
