(1) That at a duly constituted special meeting of the Runanga Borough Council, held on the sth day of April, 1938, the following resolution was passed: — In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by “The Local Bodies Loans Act, 1926,” and Section 14 of “The Finance Act (No. 2) 1936,” and in pursuance of all other powers and. authorities enabling- it in that behalf, the Runanga Borough Council resolves by way of Special Order as follows: —• “For the purpose of meeting the cost of a water supply from Coal Creek for the Borough of Runanga, the Runanga Borough Council hereby authorises the raising of a loan of fourteen thousands pounds (£14,000) for period of twenty-five years, at such a rate of interest as will not produce to the lender, or lenders, a rate exceeding £3/10/- per centum per annum, and on the terms that the repayment of such loan shall be provided for by the establishment of a sinking fund, calculated on the amount raised of not less than £2/10/- per centum per annum.” (2) That such resolution will be submitted for confirmation as a special order at a meeting of the said Council, to be held at 6.30 p.m. on WEDNESDAY. the fourth day of MAY, 1938, at the Council Chambers, Carroll Street, Runanga. (3) That a poll of the ratepayers of the said Borough is required to be taken on the proposal to raise the said loan if at any time before the date fixed for the confirmation of the said resolution, not less than 5 per centum of the ratepayers whose names are inscribed on the ratepayers’ roll of-the said Borough, by writing, under their hands delivered, or sent by post, to the said Council, demand that a poll be taken on the proposal tb raise the said loan.
