In the following civil cases, heard by Mr. Raymond Ferner, S.M., at the Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, judgment for plaintiffs by default was given in all cases. C. Larcombe v. F. Miller for 13/3, costs £l/5/6. John Cooper v. T. A. Farrell and A. R. Oastler for £33/13/6, costs 1 £4/7/6, W. Blom v. W. McGeorge £l6/6/9, costs £l/5/-. W. Blom v. V. Martin £l/10/-, costs 10/-. D. W. Robertson, for operating a heavy motor vehicle on the main highway, was convicted and fined 30/with costs 10/-. S. R. Wylde, charged with (1) carrying on a goods service on the Reefton Saddle without carrying a vehicle authority, (2) carrying on a goods service without carrying an inspection certificate, was fined 10/- with costs 10/- on both charges. The Magistrate stressed the importance of operators carrying the necessary vehicle authority and also of carrying this on the vehicle duly registered for the purpose. Fergus Gallischer. for driving a motor vehicle at Ikamatua, without a tail light, and also for driving a motor-car without the necessary headlights, was fined £1 with costs 12/- on each charge. W. A. Bray, for riding a cycle after dark, not having a light affixed, was fined 10/- with costs. Walter Preen, for allowing cattle to wander on the road, was fined £l, costs 12/-.
