RUSSIAN SCIENTISTS

RESCUE IMMINENT. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. COPYRIGHT.] (Recd. February 12, 9 a.m-) MOSCOW, February 11. Three Polar bears, killed when the coast of Greenland was sighted on February 8, made a welcome addition to the larder of the Russian scientists. This was revealed by M. Papanin, in a radio message.

He said that, when a storm ripped the tent, they were undaunted. “We built a little snow-house, and settled in quite well. We have now set up the radio on a new site. We are drifting in sight of the coas*.”

The Soviet ice-breakers are quite close to the ice-floe. The Taimyr had a radio telephone talk with the camp on February 9.
