SYDNEY. January 19
Heavy weather is prevailing on the north coast of New South Wales. Many ships are sheltering. There are similar conditions off the Queensland const, resulting in a mishap to the Burns Philp ship Montoro, en route from New Guinea. The crew effected repairs, and the vessel is due at Townsville tomorrow.
Aerial services between Townsville, Brisbane and Sydney were cancelled to-day.
CANE-FIELDS FLOODED

A cyclone on the north coast was followed by torrential rains, which threaten to cause extensive flooding in Southern Queensland and the Northern Rivers districts of New South Wales.
The Tweed River broke its banks, last night. The water, spread over miles of cane-fields, and invaded the main street of Murwillumbah. There was a foot of water in many business premises.
A washaway occurred on the railway near Kyogle, and the express trains between Sydney and Brisbane were delayed.
