Stabbed in the throat, with a. sheath knife about 9 o'clock last evening at the coiner of Madras Street and Moorhouse Avenue, Thomas Hawtin is in a serious condition at ihe. Christchurch Public Hospital. An arrest lias been made.
Few particulars were available last night, but it. is believed that Hawtin and his son. who is a taxi-driver employed by Gohl Bam! Taxis, wore accosted by r two men fit the corner of Madras Street and Moorhouse Avenue, and that there was an affray there, which re-'iilted in llawiin, sen., being wounded. Ha.v,-tin was taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital by ihe St. John Ambulance, accompanied by a constable. Early this morning, however, his; condition was; too serious to allow of his being questioned by r the po’ic.-.
ACCUSED IN COURT
CHRISTCHURCH. Jam 2a
William George Boyd was charged this; morning, that with intent to do bodily harm, he wounded. Thomas Hawtin P.oyd was described as a labourer, aged fit years, of no fixed abode. He was remanded for a week.
