MOANA REGATTA
SATURDAY’S RESULTS. The annual Moana Regatta, was held on Lake Brunner, on Saturday, in fine weather, and before a good crowd of spectators. There was only a light breeze blowing, making conditions difficult tor the yachtsmen. The results were as follow: — ROWING. Boys’ Flatty Race, Club Cup!— First heat: J. Dense (scr) 1, R. Dense (15sec) 2, F. Klempel (ssec) 3, K. Klempel (lOsec) 4. Also started: F. Hines (15sec), R. Beale (lOsec). Time 1-43 2-5, Second heat: J. Develin 1. Bob Kay 2, J. Kay 3', W. Keddie 4. Time 1-58 1-5. Final: F. Klempel 1, J. Kay 2, R. Dense 3. Time 1-48. Sailormen’s Flatty Race (Allan Smith Trophy) : J. Dixon 1, D. Smith 2, W. Tissiman 3. Also started: JEvans, W. Bond, G. Scott, J. Currie. Time 4min.

Open Flatty Race (Behan Cup first, P. Low, wallet, second): J. Bryan (25 secs) 1. C. Kennedy (15sec) 2, F. Klempel (20sec) 3- Also started: M. Malloy (30sec), E. Dense senr. (ssec), E. Dense junr. (lOsec), E. Hocking (scr).
Sailing Race (Boustridge and Hall, cup, first, club’s trophy second): Rascal 14min (Blacktopp) 1, Lolita 7min (Evans) 2, Mystic scr (Tissiman) 3Also started: Omana Omin, Manurewa 3min, Awatea 14min, Kororo 14min, Vagabond lOmin, lanthe 4min, Moana !)min. Time Ihou.r smin. The Rascal won comfortably. The Lolita gained second place from the Mystic by half a length, after an exeting struggle for the wind over the last 50 yards. Brownlee Cup, to be won twice in succession or thee times at intervals, for boats over 14ft; distance 8 miles: Manurewa Osec (E. Smith) 1, lanthe 7sec (Messenger) 2, Mystic scr (Scott) 3,Moana 15see (F. Dense) 4. The only starters. Time 1 hour 58min. Won easily by Bmin 15secs. The Mystic finished lOmin 31sec after the winner- Smith sailed a fine race and his boat seemed more suited to the conditions.
Boats under 14ft (Sutherland Cup): Lolita scr (Evans) 1, Karoro 6niin. (Moffitt) 2. Rascal 4min (Blacktopp) 3. Also started: Vagabond lmin, Awatea smin, Bounty smin. Karoro just, failed to overhau.l the winner, with Rascal, gaining fast, a length away third. Free-for-All (Westland Brewery Cup first, club trophy second): Lolita 9min (Evans) 1: Vagabond lOmin (Dixon) 2, Awatea 16min (Brennan) 3. Also started: Alystic scr, Alanurewa 2min, lanthe lmin 4sec, Aloana 9min, Omana 9min, Rascal 13min, Bounty 14min, Karoro 14min. Time 41min. This was the best race of the meeting. The Lolita won by two lengths, Awatea, a length further back, beating Aloana by inches for third place.
