GIRL’S LONG HIKE
THROUGH WATERLESS REGION
PERTH, December 22. A 370-mile hike, from Mt. Magnet, on the Murchison goldfield, to Perth, which was begun on November 27, has been completed by Misses Hazel Erlandsen, 21, of East Perth and Vera Harding, 22, of Mt. Magnet. After leaving Mt. Magnet, they walked through long, waterless stretches, against the advice of the police and prospectors, but they got through without hardship. They were attired in shorts, scout shirts, helinets and golf shoes, and; they carried water bags, rugs, ai
change of clothing and a billy can, but no tent. They slept in the , open on nights when they did not reach a town.
