RAILWAYS MAGAZINE.
The January issue of the New Zealand Railways Magazine, has a wellbalanced range of reading and’ illustrations. G. G. Stewart begins a new series of special features under the appropriate heading of “Dream Places-” the romantic lands of poets’ dreams. Ken Alexander in a characteristic humorous sketch “Here’s Health,” breezily tells the world that health is better than wealth. James Cowan gives a very pleasant story of a canoe voyage up the Mokau River. “CounterIrritants” is a well-told love story by H.M. Hirst. New aspects of the Buller Valley are given by Bernard Teague. The women’s sectibn has some specially interesting notes and comments for mothers who now have the problem of the school holidays-
