CANTERBURY TITLE-WIN NEBS [per press association.] CHRISTCHURCH, January 2. A. D. Brown, of Auckland, and Miss T. Poole are the 1937-38 lawn tennis champions of Canterbury. On Thursday. Brown beat C. Angas, who. with the exception of one year, when he was absent in Australia, had held the title for 10 seasons, and on Friday he beat even more decisively H. A. Barnett, Canterbury’s second ranking player. The championship finals were watched by a large gallery, who again saw some splendid exhibitions of the game. The stadium courts at Wilding Park were in splendid order, and the weather, overcast but warm, and with a fairly brisk south-west wind, were almost ideal for play.
