The fourth round of the New Zealand Chess Congress was played today as well as the unfinished' games in the second and third rounds. Results:—

Third round: Lang beat Belton; Erskine beat Severne; Lynch drew with Burry. Fourth round —Burry beat Dunlop; Hindin beat Erskine; Lang- beat McNabb; Belton drew with McDermid; Newick v. Kelling and Hunter v. Lynch, uncompleted. The following table gives the positions of the players:—

Results of play in the Premier Reserve competition are: — Third Round: Langley beat Christensen. Fourth Round: Langley (Otago) beat Hewitt (Otago); Allen (Wellington) beat Sterry (Nelson); Lang (Otago) v. Turner (Southland), uncompleted’; McMillan (Otago) -v. Christensen (Palmerston North), uncompleted. Fifth Round: Allen beat Lang; Langley beat Sterry; Hewitt beat Christensen; Turner beat McMillan. DUNEDIN, December 30.

At the Chess Congress, this morning, Hunter beat Lynch. The KellingNewick match was adjourned till tomorrow.
