AUSTRALIAN AMATEUR TITLE

! SYDNEY, September 16. The final of the amateur golf championship of Australia was won by H. L. Williams (Victoria), who beat T. Tanner (New South Wales), 1 up. A feature of the play was Tanner’s plucky fight. He’ was 4 down at the twenty-seventh, and then played brilliantly, but could not get ahead of his opponent. Williams at times played masterly. This is Williams’ second win in the amateur title, his first being in 1931. H. M. Cutler will join Hattersley, and participate in. the New Zealand golf championships. It is possible that others may yet go. WESTLAND TOURNAMENT. The Westland Golf Club’s tournament will be held at the Mahinapua links, commencing on Saturday morning and continuing until Sunday afternoon. For the men’s bogey handicap on Saturday morning, competitors are to be at the links ready to start as early as possible. The starter will arrange* lhe fours and will advise the starting point. I ’layers arriving after 9.2« a.in. will have to take their places after the ladies. Competitors in the Ladies' Bogey Handicap must, he ready to start at 9..‘10 a.m. The starter will arrange partners and the starting place on arrival. TENNENT UUP—MEN.
