An extraordinary general meeting of the shareholders of J. Staples and Company, Ltd., of Wellington, was held to-day to consider the action of the directors in giving To New Zealand Breweries, Ltd., an option to purchase the company’s interests in licensed properties. The meeting passed a resolution ratifying the action of the directors in giving the option. Terms of the sale are that New Zealand Breweries, Ltd., will pay £496,000 in cash for Staples’ hotel assets and £32,000 for furniture, making a total of £528,000. Report for the period ending May 25, 1937: No. 5 north centre stope— Am now carrying along the second stope where the stone is not so regular as in the previous stope, occurring more in short blocks joined with small seams. No. 5 south rise: This has been timbered up to bottom of the winze and an intermediate drive has been started, where at 7 feet in there is one foot of stone showing in the hanging wall side of the drive. No. 5 level: Have started a stope in the north end of the south block where six feet of stone is showing in the face. Seventy-two and a-half tons of stone were delivered to the surface bins.
