JAPANESE NAVY
EXPANSION POLICY TOURS

TOKIO, May 28.
The newspaper “Nichi Nichi Shimbun” reports that the Supreme War Councillor, Admiral Hisanori Fujita, will make a tour of inspection in June in the South Seas region, at the request? of the Minister for the Navy (Vice-Admiral Mitsumasa Yonai). Other Councillors, Admiral Takahashi and Suetsugu, will similarly make tours of inspection in China and Manchukuo respectively. The newspaper says; “The navy will use the reports and recommendations of the three leaders as the basis of a policy with which to face the problems which it is anticipated may arise in the Pdcific and Far East. The navy will also carry out a new replenishment programme in view of the world-wide expansion of armaments.”
SUPER-WHALER
TOKIO, May 28.
The Osaka iron works launched another whaler, twenty thousand tons, the Tonan Maru number three for the Japan Fishery Company, the biggest non-naval vessel built in Japan.
ANTI-CABINET CAMPAIGN

“The Times’s” Tokio correspondent says: The Minseito and Seiyukau Parties have opened an anti-Cabinet campaign, issuing a joint manifesto demanding its resignation, and declaring Cabinet was the obstacle to national unity, and hindered the execution of emergency policies. The manifesto, angling for the Army’s support, unequivocally accepts its doctrine in a national emergency. Premier Hayashi still professes his determination to meet, the Diet and test its attitude.
