Mr G. D. M. Roberts, who has been selected for direct entry into the Royal Air Force, is a member of the Greymouth Aero Club. He is on the staff of the Public Works Department, Greymouth.

Mr A. B. Lane, of the staff of the Bank of New Zealand, Greymouth, has received notice of transfer to Geraldine. He will leave about the end of June. His successor, at Greymouth, has not been announced.

The cure of Akaroa has been accepted by Archdeacon A. J. Petrie, who has been vicar of St. Stephen’s Church, Ashburton, for nearly nine years. He will take up his new duties at the end of August.

Mr. S. E. West, assistant-engineer, to the Hamilton Borough Council, has resigned to take an appointment as resident engineer for Anderson’s, Ltd., Christchurch, on the construction of a large gold dredge on the West Coast.

Mr. S. J. Smith, Secretary of the Cook Islands Department, Wellington, arrived at Auckland yesterday, by the Limerick from the Islands, after spending some weeks in the Cook Islands inaugurating a system of Government control of fruit from the group. Mr. Smith will return to the Cook Islands to take up the position of Resident Commissioner in succession to Judge H. F. Ayson, who is returning to New Zealand after more than 20 years’ service in the Islands.
