In discussing religious broadcasting at General Synod at Hamilton, Archdeacon W. Bullock (Wellington) said he considered the broadcasting of morning church services to be unnecessary. He suggested that greater attention should be given to the broadcasting of religion in the form of specially prepared lectures and sermonettes. Synod adopted a recommendation to the Primate that he should appoint as early as possible the Anglican members of a central broadcasting-committee to act in an! advisory capacity with the Director of Broadcasting in arranging religious broadcasts. Archbishop Averill pointed out that in these days of totalitarianism there was danger of broadcasting becoming the established church of New Zealand. If the representatives of the State were to say who was to represent religion over the air, the position should be watched. When we sold out our premises many lines were purchased on indent.
