WORLD’S NEED
MORE “MATEYNESS". LONDON, January 4. What the world wants is more “mateyness,” according to Dr. James A. Bowie, principal of the Dundee School of Economics. Speaking at a conference of the Industrial Section of the Students’ Christian Movement at Birmingham on Saturday, he contended that noth-
ing could save mankind except a new* moral creed. But a new spirit would be ineffectual unless i.t was worked into the social system. "In building the New Jerusalem there will be more tolerance, less bad temper and backbiting, more courage and hope and faithfulness,” lie Said “Social salvation can be found in' no mere outward change, of system; nor in tiny political nostrum, but only when men practise that virtue which in thcoiogy is called righteousness, in law justice, and in the common life of men mateyness.”
