R.A.F. PLANE CRASHES
THREE KILLED—ONE INJURED
s SNOW-STORM TRAGEDY [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYBIGHT.] (Recd. February. 26, 2 p.m.) LONDON, February 25. Two occupants were killed instantly, a third, Flight Lieutenant George Strangman of Sydney, died in the hospital and a fourth was slightly injured when a two-engined Air Force machine crashed in a sudden snow storm over Dover. The plane hit a field, and crashed across a road. The wreckage was strewn for a quarter of a mile. One engine was hurled three hundred yards, and the other fifty. ROYAL AIR FORCE LONDON, February 24. The King, on the recommendation of the Secretary tor Air (Viscount Swinton), has approved the following appointments, to take effect from September 1: —Air Chief Marshal Sir E. L. Ellington, chief of the Air Staff, to be Inspector-General of the Royal Air Force; Air Marshal Sir C. L. N. Newall, to be chief of the Air Staff.

WELLINGTON. February 25
A Miles Whitney Straight aeroplane has been purchased by Mr. Harold Edwards, contractor, of Wellington, for use in his business as a builder. This is the first instance in New Zealand of a business man purchasing his own aeroplane with the intention of operating it himself. Mr. Edwards gained his flying license as a pupil of the Wellington Aero Club. His aeroplane will be used by the club for training and general purposes, the club maintaining it and paying Mr. Edwards a percentage of the fees earned by it. It is expected to arrive in New Zealand in the middle of April.
