“VICTORY COMPLETE”

. RAS DESTA SHOT. [by cable—pbess assn.—oopybight.J (Received February 26, 1 p.m.) ROME, February 25. An official statement says that Ras Desta, the Emperor’s son-in-law, whom th- Emperor is reported to have favoured to'represent him at the Coronation, was rounded up by a flying column, captured, and shot. He leaves a widow and seven children, who are at present in England with Haile Selassie.

General Graziani, in his report to Mussolini, says that Ras Desta, in December, sent emissaries, promising submission, but it is believed that he was only temporising, while he collected troops. Graziani recalls that Mussolini ordered that a time limit of seven days should be given for RasDesta’s surrender. When the time expired, Graziapi took out an expedition and defeated Ras Desta, who, with his lieutenant, escaped until last week, when he brought an action, in which Cambre Mariam and others were killed. Ras Desta again escaped, until he was captured yesterday. Graziani adds: 1 am proud to lav in the Duce’s hand a complete victory, enabling the civil development of the Empire, without anxiety.
