Exception to fruiterers and country residents being allowed to display and advertise blackberries for sale was taken by members of the Morrinsville branch of the Farmers’ Union at their February meeting. “You might just as well advertise ragwort seed for sale,” remarked Mr A. Topham, who is a member of the Auckland executive of the Farmers’ Union, after drawing attention to an advertisement of blackberries for sale in an Auckland newspaper. The president of the branch. Mr S. A. Ferguson, added that he had noticed blackberries on sale in Hamilton. A resolution was passed protesting against the sale of blackberries.
