It is officially reported that 500 Japanese, armed with IS machine-guns, attacked 35 Soviet border guards, near Lake Khana. The Soviet guard held off the attackers for over 20 hours. The casualties are not stated. EXPANSION POLICY. TOK 10. February 18. In the Lower House, a Liberal member. Yukio Ozaki, demanded to know whether Japan’s expansionism was northward or southward, or whether it was economic or military. The Premier replied that the first question would depend on the time circumstances. Regarding lhe second, he said he believed that no country in the world would at present aticinm armed conquest.
