William John Cody, 24 labourer, and Rupert Davies, 28, storeman, were found guilty of the murder Janies Edward Scriver, on January ~l, 1936, and both were sentenced to death. Scriver a Titles Office messenger, was fatally shot while acting as an escort to a clerk carrying a cashbag containing £1758. , Women screamed and men muttered disapproval, when the foreman announced the verdict..
