A Montreal cablegram announced the death of Major General Loomis, a hero of Mons. Mr Eden is expected to arrive' on Sunday, after his holiday abroad — Official Wireless. ' Mr. R. Kear, of the staff of the Kaiapoi Woollen Co., Ltd., Greymeuth, will leave on Monday next, on transfer to Christchurch. Mr Alan Christensen, of Christchurch, has arrived in Greymouth to take the position of service manager at Schaef’s, Ltd. Passengers by yesterday’s express from Christchurch, included: Miss M. Gilbert, Mr M. O’Neill (from Rangiora), Mr and Mrs W. B. Hutton, Miss J. Graham (from Hastings). Guests at Revington’s include: — Dr. R. L. Jack (Melbourne), Messrs E. W. Finch (Sydney), E. A. Rudd (Melbourne), Beckford (Wellington), E. E. West, Inglis, Flewellyn (Christchurch), S. Hurley (Nelson). .

The marriage took place, last evening, at the Holy Trinity Church, of Eric Matson Good and Lilian Tabb. Archdeacon Jermyn officiated. Miss Madge O’Brien of Auckland, attended as bridesmaid, and. Mr. Ron. Kear was best man. During the service, Mr. M. Marshall sang a sacred solo. Miss V. Millar presided at the organ. The death took place at Christchurch, on Sunday, of Mr. Joseph Peter Packer, aged 54 years. The late Mr. Packer was formerly employed by the Railways Department and was stationed on the West Coast for a number of years, until his retirement ten years ago. Recently he had been licensee of the Teddington Hotel. He is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Mary Kennedy, of Greymouth, and Rev. Father Packer, C.SS.R., a brother. The funeral took place at Christchurch yesterday. The death occurred suddenly last evening, at the residence of her .sister, Mrs. M. E. Bellamy, Nelson Street, Greymouth, of Mrs. Grace Hubbard, wife of Mr. George Hubbard, of Reefton. The late Mrs. Hubbard was a native of Ross, aged 59 years,, and had resided in Reefton for the greater part of her life. Besides her husband, she leaves one sister, Mrs. Bellamy, and four brothers, Rev. Father Lockington, S.J. (Melbourne), Messrs. Alisha Lockington (Westport) and Harry and George Lockington (Reefton). The funeral will take place at Reefton, on Friday. The death occurred at noon to-day, at her residence, Palmerston Street, of Mrs. Hannah Minchin. The late Mrs. Minchin, who had been in ill health for the past three years, was a native of Kuinara, 49 years of age, and had lived the greater part of her life in Greymouth. Her husband, Walter Patrick Minchin predeceased her nine years ago, and she is survived by two sons, Donald and ■ Walter (both of (Greymouth); also three sisters, Mrs. L. Morgan (Greymouth), Mrs. J. Brown and Mrs. J. McGirr (Blaketown), and six brothers, Messrs James, Donald and Andrew Steel (Greymouth), William Steel (Christchurch), Ivor Steel (Kumara) and Hugh Steel (Hokitika). The funeral will leave her late residence at 2 p.m. to-morrow, for the Karoro Cemetery.
