BOOTMAKER’S DEATH. [BY CABLE —PBESS ASSN. —COPYBIGHT.] PARIS, December 19. The death has occurred of M. Pierre Yantorny, the manufacturer of the world’s most expensive boots and shoes. He did not leave a fortune, though he charged £5O for a pair of shoes ROUGH TRIP. LONDON, December 19. The bridge, deck, and cabins of the steamer Nohata (1817 tons), hound from Melbourne to Limerick, were wrecked by tremendous seas. Other portions of the vessel were seriously damaged. Most of the ship’s papers were lost. The vessel has arrived in the river Shannon. The cargo is believed to be safe. 8.8. C. LIBEL AWARD. LONDON, December IS. Sir Cecil Levita has appealed against the verdict of £7,500 in favour of Mr Richard S. Lambert, editor of the 8.8. C. weekly publication, the “Listener,” in a recent slander action. To-day was the last day of the period allowed for lodging an appeal. COTTON OPERATIVES LONDON, December 20. The cotton employers have conceded an increase to the operatives of 1/1 "to 1/2-in the pound, compared with the demand for 1/8.
