GENEVA, October 5. Tht Council requested the Polish Government to assume responsibility for finding a solution to the problems at Danzig. The Polish representative accepted the task. The Committee’s report emphasises it is clear the Council and High Commissioner “are at present meeting with systematic obstruction from the Danzig Senate.” AUCKLAND, October 6. The honour of being the first woman barrister to appear in wig and gown as counsel at the Auckland Supreme Court, was held by Miss Marion Holloway, who appeared this morning, for one of the parties in a case relating to the interpretation of wills. Mr. Justice Fair presided. LONDON, October 5. Even the Commissioner of Police is not exempt from the attentions of thieves. Sir Philip Game left his car parked at Richmond, whence it disappeared. Police cars dashed out in. search and found it at Twickenham after several hours. PALMERSTON N., October 6. A statement was made by Cr. W. B. Tennent that it was not his intention to proceed fqrther with any proceedings, which he announced at the recent meeting of the City Council, he was issuing against. Cr. J. Hodgens, M.P., in consequence of a reference to Mr Tennent, contained in a telegraiji which Cr. Hodgens forwarded to the Council three weeks ago. Mr Tennent, to-day, said that though he considered the proper place for Mr Hodgens to make a withdrawal of the statement was the Council table, he understood from people who attended the public meeting in the Opera House on September 19, that Mr Hodgens there made the necessary withdrawal. Mr Tennent now regarded the matter as closed.
