The Christchurch Hunt Club will not hold a race meeting this winter. Following the abandonment of the meeting that was to have been held last Saturday, the Committee discussed the idea of racing on Saturday, August 29, as a preliminary to the Otago Hunt Club. The latter club was informed of the proposed new date, and was asked if it had any objection to offer. The Otago Hunt Club replied yesterday, and it regretted being unable to agree to the proposal, as a meeting at Riccarton would affect the Otago meeting on September 5. The suggestion was made that the Christchurch meeting should be held the week after the Otago Hunt meeting. This proposal did not suit the Christchurch Club, as it. would clash with other meetings in September, and as no suitable date was available, the Christchurch Hunt Club decided to abandon the idea of holding a meeting this winter.
