BOROUGH RESERVES

[to the editor.] Sir,—Allow me to commend “W.H.D.’s” suggestion to plant Norfolk pines in Greymouth. While on this subject, it is right to take stock of our scenic beauties in the town. We have the children’s park, •which is certainly an asset. But, what of our native bush reserve. King’s Domain! How few know of its existence and how to approach it. Then we have the banks of Sawyer’s Creek in front of Heaphy Street. A great deal of money was spent there, but now it is a ruin owing to lack of care. Another of our parks, is Petrie “Avenue,” with its solitary row of trees. Surely more trees could be planted on the eastern side of the railway along Lord Street. In conclusion, I hope that in the future, the parks we have will be improved and then, further improvements may be carried out.—Yours, etc., “BEAUTY LOVER.”
