The terms of reference of the enquiry into the iron and steel industry to be carried out by the Import Duties Advisory Commit tee were published to-night. The committee is to examine the present position of the iron and steel industry in the light of all data now available, and, in so far as is practicable, to report with due regard to the national interest on the general lines of its future development. Nine days from the end of the crop year, the wheat in storage is less than 120,000,000 bushels, the lowest in five years, and lower by 63,000,000 bushels than at the same time last year.

Lord Lonsdale has joined the Imperial Policy Group. JOURNALIST’S LIFE SENTENCE.
BERLIN, July 22.
After proceedings in camera, Herr Walter Schwerdferger, journalist, of Borgen Zeitung, was sentenced to life-long penal servitude. He- was arrested in August, and was accused of revealing to foreign diplomats and journalists instructions and other confidential information issued to the German Press by the Propaganda Minister. The Nazis considered that the information was injurious to State interests.
