ANTI-GAMBLER VICTIM
BETS IN HIS NAME
LONDON, June 1
A Derby hoax on the Rev. Frederick E. Watson, of Bellshill, Lanarkshire, hon. sec. of the Scottish Anti-Gambling League, was revealed last night. Someone, he said, placed bets in his name with a London bookmaker. Yesterday he received a letter stating: “I received cneque in accordance with your instructions. I executed the following: £ll2/10/- to £7/10/- on Boswell for the Derby to win, and £2/10/- for a place.” A letter from a Glasgow bookmaker stated that he must send the money before his bet could be accepted.
