BRITAIN’S MEAT IMPORTS
AUSTRALIAN GAINS.

LONDON, July 2
The Australian Associated Press is informed that the meat agreement is thoroughly satisfactory to Australia. It nqt only establishes a three-farth-ings levy on Argentine beef, and nothing on Australian, but also a reduction in the present Argentine quota, while the Commonwealth's quota remains unchanged. The agreement will be long term, not subject to quarterly revision, thus ensuring Australia of a continuous expanding market. The agreement must be submitted to the Argentine, for formal assent, which is not likely to be refused. Commonwealth circles are delighted with .the result of the negotiations, and consider that it establishes a principle which will be useful in future negotiations regarding other commodities.
