Mr C. Leopold left last evening, on a visit, to Christchurch.

Messrs J. Rear and J. McDiarmid left to-day, by car, on a visit to Christchurch.

Archdeacon J. A. Jermyn ’will return this afternoon, from a visit to Nelson.

Nurse Smith, of Christchurch, and formerly of the staff of the Grey Hospital, is on a holiday visit to Greymom h.

Sister Malone, of the Grey Hospital staff, has received advice that she has passed her examination in maternity nursing, with honours.

Mr. L. B. Debenham, of the staff of Grey Motors Ltd., has accepted a position at Blenheim, and will leave Greymouth about the middle of next week.

Passengers by yesterday’s express from Christchurch included, Nurse N. Adamson (from Orepuki), Miss V. Minehan. Mrs. A. Steele, Mr. P. J. McLean and Mr. R. Hanna.

Guests at Revington’s include:— Messrs A. B. Ellis, C. E. Pethybridge, K. Y. Campbell, C. J. Gray (Christchurch), W. D. Wilson (Wellington), J. Charters (Nelson).

It is understood that Mr C. J. McKenzie, Under-Secretary of- Public Works, is retiring from his position, on medical advice (stated a Wellington Press Association telegram). Mr McKenzie took ill while on a visit to South Westland.

The funeral of the late Mrs. Margaret Cameron, of Kaiata, took place yesterday. afternoon, at Karoro Cemetery, ’ and was largely attended. The services, at the residence of Mrs. W. Dunshea, Blaketown, and at the graveside. were conducted by Rev. H. R. Fell.

A New York cablegram stated that Mr. P. J. Morgan, who was stricken with a heart attack a fortnight ago, while visiting relatives in Massaschusetts, arrived at his country home at Long Island on Wednesday, being driven from the train in an ambulance. Members of the family minimised his illness, denying reports that he is paralysed, and indicating that he intends to go abroad as usual this summer.

Mr James Behan, who will leave next week, for Christchurch, where he will reside, was farewelled by members of the Star Football Club and friends, last evening, and presented with a travelling bag. Eulogistic references were made to Mr Behan’s ability as a. player, and his value as a club member, by members of the club and representatives of the West Coast Rugby Union.
