BOWLING
EMPIRE GAMES LEVY.
WELLINGTON, July 1.
A decision as to whether New Zealand bowlers should be levied to pay the expenses of a team of bowlers to compete at the Empire Games, in Sydney in 1938, was postponed by the New Zealand Bowling Association today. Hitherto teams of bowlers travelling overseas have paid theii' own expenses. The suggestion that the expenses of a team to represent the Dominion in Sydney, be paid by a levy, emanated from the Wellington and Central Otago centres. The Association sought the opinion of other centres. Four replied in favour of the proposal, and four against it. Two desired no action to be taken, and twelve gave no definite reply. Mr S. M. Stone (Wellington) withdrew the motion that the levy be made, with a view to bringing it forward at the half-yearly meeting in January, allowing further consideration by the centres. He said he thought the levy would not be more than 3d.
