GRATIFYING RESULTS CLAIMED

APIA, June 30

Full details of the deliberations which took place on the previous day at Vaimoso between the Mau and the New Zealand goodwill delegates, Messrs. F. Langstone and J. O’Brien, were given by Mr. Langstone before a large combined gathering of Samoans at Mulinuu. the Government headquarters, to-day. The leaders of both political sections affirmed their determination to work together for a United Samoa. • The Minister announced the full restoration of the cuts and salaries of the Native and European officials, as from July 1, and also agreed to the setting up of a Committee of Samoans to confer with the Administrative heads on all matters relating to finance and taxation. A promise was given that questions of public interest affecting the administration of the Mandate would be published locally, from time to time, in the Samoan language. The Minister said that a scheme to develop and make available, about two thousand acres of Crown lands for the natives and for Samoan-born citizens who required holdings, is now under consideration. The Samoans are responding splendidly to the spirit of the goodwill mission, and the delegates are gratified with the results achieved, since their arrival a. week ago to-day.
