HAWES DEFEATS R. AITKEN. [pee peess association.] CHRISTCHURCH, June 30. In a professional featherweight box. ing contest to-night, P. G. Hawes, of Christchurch (8.12) beat Ralph Aitken, of Wellington (9.3) in ten rounds on points. Hawes timed his punches better and gave Aitken a good deal of punishment with hooks and jabs, but Aitken used a straight left cleverly. JACOBS V. FISHER. WELLINGTON, June 30. Providing the crowd with a spirited contest, Ern. Jacobs (Wellington) and E. (“Kid”) Fisher, (England) fought a draw in. ten rounds for the professional middleweight boxing title in a match at Petone to-night. Jacobs, who had already a points decision over Fisher, was. if anything, the aggressor over most of the distance, but clever defensive work by the Englishman resulted in most of Jacobs' blows getting no further than Fisher’s guard. PLUTO DEFEATS ROBERTSON. ' GISBORNE, June 30. Before a packed house, Cyril Pluto (Western Australia) 10.6 J, outpointed Watty Robertson (Gisborne) 10.10, in a bout of twelve rounds. The fight was clean and open throughout, but the visitor was much superior in yngcraft, his footwork being outstanding.
