HOCKEY
SIX-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT. The annual six-a-side hockey tournament is to be played at the Recreation Ground on Tuesday, commencing at 9 a.m. Twelve teams have been entered, and the dVaw is as follow: — Section A: Cobden A v. Thistle; Thistle v. Wesley B; Wesley B V. Cobden A. Section B: Pacific v. Cobden B; Rovers v. Pacific; Rovers v. Cobden B. Section C: Mawhera v. Trinity; Mawhera v. Kumara A; Trinity v. Kumar?, A. 1
Section D: Tahua v. Wesley A; Wesley A v. Kumara B; Kumara B v. Tahua.
Semi-finals: Winner Section A v. winner Section B; winner Section C v. winner Section D.
Each game will be played in two seven-minute spells without interval. The final will be ten minutes each way, with an interval of two minutes. Pacific v. Mawhera, 2.45, to-morrow: Smith, Coffey, Seguin, Messenger, Williams, Dixon, Crase. Heaton, Knapp (2), Restieaux and Jarvis. Wesley v. Cobden, at I.3o:—Moore (2), Greenwood, Tind’ale, Howell,Peek, Sotheran, Panckhurst, Newton, Nelson, and Taylor. DIVIDED SKIRTS. WELLINGTON, June 18. The clothing of women hockey players was discussed at a meeting to-night of the New Zealand Women’s Hockey Association, when it was decided to ban the wearing of divided skirts. Opinion was divided. Auckland was stated to be very much against the ban, and Canterbury for it. “I think we are being very Victorian,” said one member.
